About Martha Marks

I’m a retired college professor with a two-sided creative life.

On this side…

I’m a wildlife photographer. A bird photographer. A nature photographer in general. One who loves sharing the beauty of great natural places with others. Over forty years, I’ve made tens of thousands of quality images; sold thousands; published hundreds; and printed, framed, and sold fifty or sixty. I switched from film to digital in 2004 and never looked back. In 2017, I began producing hi-res videos; advanced to 4K in 2019.

For decades, I traveled the great American West with my late husband, fine-art painter Bernard Marks. We lived (and I still live) in Santa Fe, New Mexico, surrounded by fabulous natural areas. But we always were (and I still am) within a few hours of some of North America’s other most-amazing places… Colorado, Arizona, and Utah.

These days, I honor Bernie’s memory by making his beautiful paintings and prints available at bernardmarksfineart.com. I’m currently writing a memoir of our life together and will post links when it’s available.

This website gives me a way to share some of my own fine-art film and digital images, including the creative series that I call “Avian Impressions.” I’m also providing links to commercial stock photography sites where you can see many more and license them for your own uses.

I hope you’ll enjoy my photographic artwork!

On the other side…

I’m also the author of Rubies of the Viper, a romantic-suspense novel set in first-century Rome and Syria. With nearly 300 reader reviews on Amazon, it maintains a rating of 4/5. On Goodreads, with 290+ reader reviews, it’s 3.5/5.

My second novel, The Viper Amulet, is the sequel to Rubies of the Viper. With 20+ ratings, it’s 4.5/5 stars on Amazon. On Goodreads, with 18 reader reviews, it’s 4.6/5.
